Strong Passwords Might Decrease Security

By Bill Carey, Siber Systems
It sounds counterintuitive, but the idea that strong passwords can actually decrease network security is actually quite simple.
A computer user can be reasonably expected to remember one strong password. “H6u;Y0nc” is a lot more cumbersome than “password,” but after a little bit of work the user’s muscle memory takes over and the odd password flies off the finger tips. Strong passwords take a little while to master, but they’re a lot harder for a hacker to guess!

The evolution of server virtualization is upping the ante for storage system capabilities. With the flexibility, high performance and reliability required to support these dynamic environments, server virtualization is driving the need to upgrade server, networking and storage infrastructures. According to IDC, the growth of virtual machines is outpacing the growth of physical servers with nearly 20 percent of all servers expected to be virtual by 2010.

The personal computer has never been more personal. Consider email, and the things people choose to write and the files they choose to attach. People routinely trust email systems with their private correspondence, diary entries, secrets and gossip, addresses, household budget details, holiday snaps, and in some cases even their bank details.
