Domino’s Pizza deploys Voltage Security to protect email Print E-mail
Wednesday, 02 July 2008

Voltage Security Inc., a global provider of information encryption, announced Monday that Domino's Pizza has selected Voltage SecureMail to provide corporate-wide email protection. With Voltage Security, Domino's can encrypt emails containing sensitive corporate or private personal information being sent to anyone, anywhere.

Founded in 1960, Domino's Pizza is a provider of pizza delivery services. Through its primarily franchised system, Domino's operates a network of 8,641 franchised and company-owned stores in the United States and more than 55 countries. Customers can place orders online in English and Spanish by visiting its online site, or from a Web-enabled cell phone.

Voltage solutions are based on next generation cryptography, which provides encryption that works for protecting valuable, regulated and sensitive information persistently and based on policy. Voltage delivers power, simplicity and the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) through the use of Voltage Identity-Based Encryption (IBE) and a new Format-Preserving Encryption (FPE). Voltage Security offerings include Voltage SecureMail, Voltage SecureData and the Voltage Security Network (VSN), an on-demand managed service for the extended business network.

Voltage Security is an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) provider of email encryption technology, with OEMs that include Microsoft, Proofpoint, Secure Computing, Sendmail, Canon, Code Green Networks and NTT Communications. Customers include Global 1000 companies in banking, retail, insurance, energy, healthcare and government, such as American Board of Family Medicine, Diebold, Integro Insurance Brokers, NTT Communications, SafeAuto Insurance, Winterthur Life UK Ltd. and XL Global Services.

"At Domino's we are in the process of implementing a corporate-wide data loss prevention initiative to avoid any accidental loss of private or proprietary information," said Karl Anderson, network security manager, Domino's Pizza. "We realized that emails being sent to partners and vendors, such as insurance providers, may contain information like social security numbers that must be encrypted before sending."

"We realized we need a solution that integrates easily with our existing email system and one that requires little, if any, additional user training. Voltage provides all that and more," continued Anderson. "I can't imagine any company not needing this." Domino's will be using Voltage SecureMail to encrypt email being sent between corporate headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and its 17 distribution centers across the U.S., and also between key partners and vendors.

Voltage SecureMail is designed to automatically flag emails containing sensitive data and encrypt them automatically prior to sending. Decisions about encryption are made based on pre-set policy, not by individuals on a one-off basis. Domino's is using the Voltage SecureMail Zero Download Messenger, which enables the recipient to read an encrypted email without first downloading and installing client software.

"Our customers consistently tell us that they are amazed at how transparent Voltage SecureMail is within their email system," said Wasim Ahmad, vice president of Marketing at Voltage. "It is truly 'encryption that just works.' Providing email security to Domino's is another example of how businesses can continue to use email to speed business process while protecting the privacy of all concerned."
