Dec 24 -- Proximex Corp., a developer of solutions for the physical security information management (PSIM) market, and NEC Corporation of America, a provider of IT, network and identity management solutions, announced last week that the two companies have joined forces to offer integrated physical security solutions with high availability for organizations that require "real time, all the time" systems. Proximex Surveillint, combined with the NEC Express5800 /320Fc fault tolerant server or ExpressCluster product family, protects organizations with the ability to discover, connect and resolve seemingly unrelated events, as well as handle constant data transactions in the busiest surveillance environments, the companies said.
NEC Corporation of America is a technology provider of network, IT and identity management solutions. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, NEC Corporation of America is the North America subsidiary of NEC Corporation. NEC Corporation of America delivers technology and professional services ranging from server and storage solutions, IP voice and data solutions, optical network and microwave radio communications to biometric security, virtualization and digital cinema solutions, the company said. NEC Corporation of America serves carrier, SMB (small and medium business) and large enterprise clients across multiple vertical industries, NEC Corporation of America added.
Proximex’s Surveillint product powers users with an intelligent and flexible system to discover, connect and resolve related security incidents fast. Surveillint 's feature set makes it the preferred choice of security users at all levels in an organization, including operators, supervisors and executive management, Proximex said. Its customer base includes entities with an urgent need for security systems management, such as San Diego International Airport, the busiest single-runway airport, and Fortune 1000 organizations in industries, such as public safety and transportation; banking and financial services; gas, oil and chemical; and the military, Proximex said. Proximex is a privately held company headquartered in Sunnyvale, California with offices in Texas, Tennessee and Florida, it added.
Proximex Surveillint is a physical security solution for policy-based incident discovery, connection and resolution, Proximex said. Powered by rules and workflow engines, Surveillint takes advantage of existing security systems to speed incident response times, improve suspect apprehension rates and shorten the time required to resolve incidents and generate reports, it said.
Operators prefer Surveillint for its intuitive and comprehensive interface, supervisors like its incident reporting and auditing, and management approves of its ability to provide a complete overview of the organization 's entire security environment, Proximex said. In just one solution, Proximex allows different security professionals, regardless of their level within the organizations, to communicate with one another as well as view the information required for their duties, it said.
Building security requires sophisticated solutions that support the convergence of physical and network security, NEC Corporation of America said. Proximex's information management software speeds discovery, connection and resolution of crime incidents. NEC Express5800 fault tolerant servers and ExpressCluster software serve as the foundation to process the large amount of data streaming from access control, video surveillance, biometrics, and other information Proximex Surveillint manages, NEC Corporation of America said.
NEC offers a portfolio of hardware and software products for high availability and disaster recovery solutions, the companies said. NEC's fault tolerant servers offer sub-second recovery with no memory state loss from hardware failures through its unique lockstep processing technology. NEC ExpressCluster software provides integrated application and data protection and recovery on industry standard x86 servers to enable lower cost system recovery within minutes of hardware, software, and site failures in LAN (local area network), SAN (storage area network), and WAN (wide area network) environments. Proximex customers can select the NEC FT server, ExpressCluster, or both products to deploy the optimal solution to meet the specific high availability or disaster recovery requirements for their Proximex access control systems, the companies added.
Proximex is pleased that NEC has taken a leadership role in its technologies partner program, Proximex said. The company takes pride in offering its customers a tested solution of technologies that integrate together to provide the best physical security systems available, it said.
NEC's ExpressCluster is a family of integrated high availability and disaster recovery software providing fast recovery and continuous protection of business critical applications and data, the companies said. ExpressCluster enables easy to deploy and cost-effective continuity solutions for industry standard database, email, and virtualization applications and platforms including Microsoft SQL, Oracle DB, IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft Exchange, Sendmail, VMware, Microsoft Virtual Server, Microsoft Windows and Linux, the companies added.
As the engine of a security system, NEC's fault tolerant (FT) servers are built from the ground up to perform with an availability level that is transparent to the user, involves no interruption of work, no transactions lost, and no degradation in performance, the companies said. The system provides 100 percent component and functional redundancy or up to 99.999 percent availability. Fault tolerant servers from NEC use hardware linkage to establish the highest level of fault tolerance with much less cost and greater operational ease, the companies added.
